Outcare’s Aboriginal Throughcare Service hosted NAIDOC celebrations on the 10th July at the Moore Street office. Outcare staff enjoyed a wonderful performance by members of the Wadjuk Dance Group and a taste of Aboriginal culture with some delicious roo stew. Those in attendance were treated to a thought-provoking welcome to country by long time Outcare supporter Associate Professor Ted Wilkes, in which he reflected on his wide ranging interests and insights into the issues facing Aboriginal people today.
Speaking about the role Outcare plays, CEO Paul McMullan reinforced the need to provide supportive interventions that benefit individuals and their communities. In addition, through the use of powerful stories, our own Aboriginal Throughcare staff members Phil Bartlett and Mark Champion highlighted the importance of NAIDOC and its significance to not only Aboriginal people but to the broader community. Special thanks to all the staff from the Aboriginal Throughcare team for organising such a great celebration!
