The three day event will explore the future directions of community services in WA, where we are getting ahead with great outcomes and where we may need to change directions to make a difference.
The WACOSS biennial Conference is a significant event on the community sector calendar. We will bring together high calibre speakers from around Australia and the world to address the conference themes:
- The Civil Society – A society is thriving when it celebrates the involvement of all its citizens, actively engages individuals, families and communities in the design of services and communities.
- The Way We Work Together – Building an effective, accessible and sustainable sector in an environment of increasing demand for services, cost pressures with reducing funding and how our irrepressible sector still delivers.
- The Future of our Work – What are the key global, national and local drivers shaping the work we do? Can we predict the issues of the future? Are there things that can be done now to improve the needs and outcomes in the future?
- WA’s First Australians – WACOSS is proud to announce for the first time a partnership with Reconciliation WA to develop and engage with Aboriginal Lead Organisations to progress one of the four program streams dedicated to Australia’s First People. This theme is about Shining a Light on a Better Tomorrow. First Australians continue to be the most disadvantaged and vulnerable demographic in WA. We will explore and showcase examples on how justice equity in WA is producing better outcomes for Australians First People. The sector will have the opportunity to learn and work together with Indigenous lead organisations.
